Get Affordable Telephone Service With Verizon Lifeline

It’s safer and easier to stay in touch when you have your own phone. Verizon is helping more households get affordable phone service of their own.

This service is known as Lifeline. To be eligible for Lifeline, you must currently be participating in one of the following programs: Medicaid, Food Stamps, Supplemental Security Income, Home Energy Assistance Programs, Public Housing or Section 8 Rental Assistance. You can be enrolled in Lifeline as long as you are a participant in one of the above qualifying programs.

Lifeline offers qualified candidates a discount on their monthly local telephone bill. Some of the benefits of Lifeline include the following:

  • Monthly discount of $10.20 off local service.
  • No deposit required when you select the toll-blocking option at no charge.
  • Easy payment plan for past due local charges.
  • No charge to block calls to 900 and 976 numbers upon request.
  • Even if you have phone service, you may still qualify to receive the Lifeline discount.

Some of the restrictions include:

  • The Lifeline discount applies to only one phone line per customer at your principal place of residence.
  • You may subscribe to Call Waiting. Any other calling features must be needed for medical/safety reasons.

Link-Up is another service that helps households pay the installation charge for telephone service.

Some of the benefits of Link-Up include:

Service connection charges for establishing local service will be reduced by 50% or up to $30.00, whichever is less.

No interest on deferred payment plans where service connection charges are less than $200.00 and the plan does not exceed 12 months in duration.

Service Connection Assistance is another service which provides reduced installation charges for telephone service. Some of the benefits of this include:

No service deposit required.

Full or partial waiver of service connection charges for establishing local basic service.

If you are interested in Lifeline, but do not have a telephone, contact Verizon toll-free at 1-888-579-1877 and place a new order for installation. Remember to inform the associate that you would like an application for the Verizon Lifeline Program.

To learn more about any of the previously mentioned programs or to see if you are eligible for a discount on phone service, please call 1-888-579-1877.
