Mentors For Families Program Provides Parents Needed Guidance

The Mentors For Families Program matches a vulnerable parent with an experienced volunteer willing to share time, concern, and their valuable parenting experience.

Parents May Need:

A friend who will listen, answering questions about parenting and someone to talk with about their feelings and concerns.

Participating Parents May Be

  • Any age
  • Pregnant or parenting
  • Motivated to be a good parent
  • In need of adult support and friendship
  • Interested in increasing knowledge of parenting
  • Interested in increasing independent living skills
  • Interested in activities and having fun

Mentors are:

  • Mature and flexible
  • Experienced in parenting
  • 25 years of age or older
  • Willing to make an 18 month commitment
  • Patient and understanding
  • Willing to offer support

The Program Offers:

A referral Source

  • Support in meeting the challenges of parenting
  • Increased knowledge for developing independent living skills Group meetings which
  • include parenting information, discussions of health issues and developing self-sufficiency skills
