Dealing With Summer Stress

Sometimes we get "stressed out" and we are not even aware of our rising stress levels. But not all individuals respond to stressors the same way. Your genetic make-up, personality and past experience all dictate how you deal with and react to stressors. In other words, susceptibility to stress related medical problems varies among individuals. Some people are especially vulnerable to stressful situations or events, while others may be highly productive under pressure.

If you recognize the major symptoms of stress, you will associate situations in your life with specific stress symptoms, and consequently develop better coping strategies for those situations. However, sometimes your body experiences stress while you remain unaware.

Ten ways To Cut Down On Stress

1) Be prepared to wait. Keep a book or magazine close by.

2) Don't put up with anything that doesn't work right. Fix or replace it.

3) Make friends with non-worriers.

4) Take care of today the best you can-yesterday and tomorrow will take care of themselves.

5) Schedule today realistically.

6) Relax your standards. Ask, "Will it matter in five years?"

7) Organize your home and work space so you know exactly where things are.

8) Add an ounce of love to everything you do.

9) Simplify, simplify, simplify.

10) Count your blessings. For everything that goes wrong, there are many things that go right.
