TMHA Tenants Must Report Income Changes
Timely
Warning! Do not risk losing your Section 8 rental voucher or
forfeiting potential escrow account credits. Contact the
housing authority as soon as possible to inform us of your
income change.
Important: The housing authority has a new procedure for
reporting income changes. Tenants are no longer required to
take a work form to their employer to complete. The housing
authority will either mail or fax the work form directly to
your employer. Tenants are responsible for coming to the
housing authority office in order to sign the work form
authorizing the release of this information. The housing
authority will then be responsible for obtaining this
information directly from your employer.
In cases where the employer will not provide the information,
an alternate verification procedure will need to be attempted.
If you fail to report a change in income and/or family
composition and the housing authority discovers that a change
has occurred, you jeopardize having your rental assistance
terminated. At the very least, you will have to repay TMHA for
assistance amounts you received but were ineligible for. If
you end up owing TMHA a debt, you will be provided with a
repayment plan, however, if you fail to make your payments
according to the plan, your assistance will be terminated.
Additionally, TMHA generally will not approve a move for a
tenant who is not in compliance with a repayment agreement.
Lastly, failure to report a change is an act that is
inconsistent with the purpose of the FSS Program.
Important: TMHA will shortly be linked to a computer system
that will enable us to get income verification information on
every Section 8 participant who is employed or receiving
unemployment compensation benefits in the state of Ohio. We
will be able to identify any discrepancies between what has
been reported to the housing authority versus what your
employer(s) have been reported to the state of Ohio in regard
to the income that you have earned. Therefore, we urge anyone
who is employed and has not
reported their income accurately, the time to report it is
now. Don't risk what you can lose!
