Tuscarawas Metropolitan Housing Authority was organized
on October 13,
1971. Through Ohio Revised Code, it is a public corporation
operating under
State law. The Authority is governed by a Board of Commissioners,

Goal of TMHA
The goal of the Authority is to assist low income families
with affordable
housing and expanded career opportunities. TMHA administrates
a budget of
approximately $2,100,000 through Annual Contributions Contracts
with HUD.
Section 8 Rental Assistance Program
Section 8 Rental Assistance Program – provides rental
assistance to very low income families housed in privately
owned rental units. TMHA enters into the landlord – tenant
relationship by certifying the tenants eligible for assistance
and by inspecting units for HUD’s Housing
Quality Standards (HQS). TMHA remits some portion of the
rent to the owner monthly.
