Owner Update "Question Of The Month"

This month's "Q" is about lead-based paint and how to get training to deal with it. The LBP Hazards Rule became effective in 2002. It applies to units built before 1978 where young children under six reside. In a nutshell, TMHA must inspect the paint in these units, and if it is deteriorated in some way, require the owner to repair the paint and get it cleared by an Ohio certified LBP assessor.

Question of the Month: Do I need training in repairing lead paint?

Answer: If you own rental units built before 1978 where families with children are housed, then you need to understand then LPB Rule, and how to safely repair paint according to "Safe Work Practices."
